Cosmetic Conditions

Don’t know what to look for when buying renewed technology? Here are some helpful guidelines you can use when navigating our site and products.

Apple Phones:

Excellent (A Grade) - This indicates that there may be one or two scratches on the screen that are not visible while the phone is powered on with some minor dings or scratches on the corners and casing. We’d rate this phone an 8 or a 9 with a 10 being a brand new phone.

Very Good (B Grade) - There may be a few (less than 4) light scratches on the screen that are not visible when the product is powered on with another heavy scratch that is less than ½ an inch long. Usually has minor dings on the corners and light scratches on the casing. Think of this one as a 7 out of 10 - we’d give this phone a double take if we passed it on the street.

Good (C Grade) - This will have multiple scratches on the screen from normal use with dings on the corners and scratches on the cases. There also may be some chips or nicks on the screen. There are no cracked screens. We rate this one a 5 or 6 out of 10 which is about how we’d rate ourselves after a night out.

Laptops:

Excellent (A Grade) - This laptop will be in excellent cosmetic condition showing only extremely light signs of wear from handling with minor dings and/or scratches on the corners and casing and one or two scratches on the screen that are not visible when the device is powered on. We’d rate this laptop a 8 or a 9 with 10 being a brand new computer.

Very Good (B Grade) - There may be minor signs of prior use which may include light scratching on the screen and minor dings and scratches on the casing. We’d consider this one a 7 out of 10.

Good (C Grade) - This will show definitely signs of use with screen scratching along with scuffs, dings, and dents on the casing. Screen may also show moderate keyboard marks but this will not affect the functionality of the product. We’re giving this laptop a 5 or 6 out of ten, not the best on the outside but perfectly functional on the inside. That description hits a little too close to home to be honest.

Watches:

Excellent (A Grade) - This watch is ready to shine on your wrist. It’s in excellent condition only showing light signs of wear from handling, it may have minor dings and small scratching but we’d give it an 8 or 9 out of 10 with 10 being a brand new watch.

Very Good (B Grade) - There will only be minor signs of use if you snag one of these watches. There may be dings along the corners and casing with some possible screen scratching, however, overall we’d give this one a 7 out of 10.

Good (C Grade) - This indicates that there will be normal signs of previous use such as scratching on the screen along with dings, dents, and scratching on the casing. We’d rate this watch a 5 or 6 out of 10 on our very official fancy rating scale.

Tablets:

Excellent (A Grade) - This indicates that there may be one or two scratches on the screen that are not visible while the tablet is powered on with some minor dings or scratches on the corners and casing. We’d rate this tablet an 8 or a 9 with a 10 being brand new.

Very Good (B Grade) - There may be a few (less than 4) light scratches on the screen that are not visible when the product is powered on with another heavy scratch that is less than ½ an inch long. Usually has minor dings on the corners and light scratches on the casing. Think of this one as a 7 out of 10.

Good (C Grade) - This will have multiple scratches, chips, or nicks on the screen from normal use along with some dings on the corners and scratches on the case. There will be no cracked screens. We rate this one a 5 or 6 out of 10, you can still play candy crush though so we’d say that’s coming out on top.

Android Phones:

Excellent (A Grade): This device was a customer return, demo, or display unit and is in excellent grade A 9+/10 cosmetic condition showing only extremely light signs of wear from handling. We’d rate this phone an 8 or a 9 with a 10 being brand new.

Very Good (B Grade): This device is in very good cosmetic condition showing only minor signs of use on screen and/or casing. Think of this one as a 7 out of 10 - not bad at all.

Good (C Grade): It is in good cosmetic condition showing normal signs of use on the screen along with scratching and/or dings on the sides and back casing. We rate this one a 5 or 6 out of 10.

Very Good Shaded (SS-B) - This phone is in very good cosmetic condition showing minor signs of use on the outer casing and the screen may show minimal scratching and have a very light screen shadow that will only be noticeable on a white background. This is purely cosmetic and has no effect on the functionality of the phone.

Good Shaded (SS-C) - This phone is in good cosmetic condition showing normal signs of use that may include scratching and/or dings on the screen and outer casing and the screen will have a screen shadow from previous use that is mostly noticeable on a white background. This is purely cosmetic and has no effect on the functionality of the phone.

Now you know exactly what to expect when you purchase your renewed device. On an unrelated note, “This is purely cosmetic and has no effect on the functionality of the product” would make a great dating profile bio, just saying.
